SP700RACER is right on the money. After seeing your total post, I see what has happened.
It was suggested to me that maybe the colored side has something to do with how its facing in the engine
Whoever told you that is also correct. They even make indexing washers for your plug if you really want to get serious. I had to do that on an engine I just built so the piston would not wack the ground electrode closed. (A flat top 13:to 1) he he he he.........
Sounds like you did it right, now go have fun with your Preddy.

87 Octane huh? I had always thought that a performance orientated motor had to run at least 93 octane. I saw 87 in the owners manual, but tossed the thought to the side as b.s. I've been toying around with my jetting too(i've talked to you in the past as well SP700racer) and I've just about got it right, but it feels just a bit sluggish at 3/4 throttle. I'm thinking I may have gone too rich with the main, and might back it down one more. Any thoughts?

Sorry for jumping in 2minInstigating, but this is pretty relative Thanks guys

Higher octane does not increase power, it just reduces detination because it burns slower. using higher octane than needed is a waste of money and reduces power. now some of the higher octane fuels that contain chemicals to increase oxygen will make more power. But you also have to increase jetting to run these type fuels.

Well, I'll check it out. SP, do you think that the sluggish response I'm getting at 3/4 throttle is from a too rich main? And so I think I might even notice a power increase by dropping back to the 87 octane as well? Sorry for playing 20 questions with ya. I appreciate it.

No problem Flynbryan. Could be that a smaller main would lean it out at 3/4, or you may try to lower your needle 1 clip also. My understanding is that the needle has influence from about 1/4 to 3/4 throttle, so it may be right on the edge.

FLYNBRYAN, there are to many varibles to try and tell you your problem without having your atv in front of me. but to lean, or to rich can cause the problem. What is your currant set up and mods and elevation.

I understand SP700. Currently I just have the 6 univents in the airbox to open it up to breathe better. right now I'm still at stock settings on my pilot and needle clip. The only thing I have adjusted is the main jet to a 165. I had a 170 main in before, and it had the slightly sluggish response. It seemed to get better with the 165 though. I was thinking of lowering the needle(raising the clip) one notch to see if I could notice an improvement as well though. My plug color looks good, and all in all it runs well, but I'm **** about it run as close to perfect as possible. I understand that there are too many variables to give me an exact answer. I'll just keep toying with it till I get it right. Thanks.

If going from a 170 to 165 helped performance, I would try a 160. Never had to play with the needle much on the stock carb.
