Last summer we had a Grizzly and a Sportsman on a ride. On the road to the trails, the Grizz's speedo said 60 mph, and the Sportsman passed him.

Does the 96 Sportsman 400 have Independent rear Suspension or the Swing Arm?

The only Polaris to use IRS is the Sportsman 335 & 500, '96+. No other models, yet, except the center on the Ranger.

In central Texas, with riders 170-230lbs, I/we have got a '99 & '00 Sportsman 500 on the same stretch to both read about 57mph. Both had EBS. I think it might have gone a little more if I had more room.

quad man you are wrong the Diesel also uses the IRS. My sp500 top out right at 59 mph. I weigh 110. BUt when i first got it i have had it past 60 on the speedo, yes it goes past 60 but you cant tell how fast you are going. That was when i was racing a 440ex. i could stay with him until fifth gear.

P.S. I had me, 110, and my friend 120 on the atv
