i dont think it will be that hard... the starter on my pred has 2 bolts connecting it to the engine... undo those and its slides right out...
and by slides i mean its kinda a pain in the *** but a little convincing and wiggling and it shouldnt be a problem.

o ya... and there are a few grounds that go to and from it...

A service manual for this quad would be of a great help to you on this project.

The skid plate has to come off, then there are (2) 10mm bolts that attach the starter rear support bracket to the engine (one is a royal pain to remove, but can be done with some patience), and the battery supply wire can be removed - then the rope starter assembly housing has to come off (exposing the flywheel), one of the housing bolts is long and is (1) of the (3) bolts that holds the starter in the front. Once the housing is off, there are (2) more 10mm bolts inside holding the starter in. The starter and starter drive will now slip out the backside.

Installation is reverse of removal.

It is a royal pain in the *** to do starter work on the pred. You have to have a flywheel puller once you get the stator cover off, or you aren't going anywhere! After that, it's not so bad.

The easiest way is to stand it on end........ although, sometimes I prefer to "lay down" on the job
