polaris awd doesnt engage!!
#1
ive had my polaris for about 1 week now. for some reason when i turn on the awd going foward the front wheels wont engage, but using the overide switch in reverse the front wheels will engage. very confused, dont know if something is wrong or not

They won't engage until the machine senses that the rear wheels are starting to spin. The bike is designed to stay in 2wd (even though the switch says 4wd) until the rears loose traction. I'm pretty sure that your bike is working correctly unless the rears are spinning and the fronts are not engaging.

I MADE IT WHERE THE REAR WHEELS ARE SPINNING JUST TO SEE IF THE FRONT WHEELS WOULD ENGAGE AND THEY DIDNT, BUT REVERSE WORKS FINE AS LONG AS I USE THE OVERIDE SWITCH

MUST POLARIS'S HAVE A SWITCH IN THE GEAR SELECTOR BOX THAT GO BAD ABOUT 95 PERCENT OF THE TIME MAY NEED TO HAVE THIS REPLACED,OR YOU REVERSE OVERRIDE BOX IS GOING BAD THIS WILL CAUSE THE AWD NOT TO WORK IN FORWARD GEARS ALSO.YOUR LOCAL DEALER SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHECK BOTH GOOD LOOK

Well get this... I picked up a 2004.5 Sportsman 600 Twin on Monday night (a week ago)... rode it around the yard. Went for a ride down thru the woods behind my house last Wednesday... This is when I discovered that the AWD doesn't work AT ALL... Not in High, not in Low, and not in Reverse.... I was stuck... had to find another way home cause i couldn't get back up the hill. Took it to the dealer, now he's replacing some magnetic part in the front end... I still don't have the machine back...
I ride Arctic Cat snowmobiles, and now I'm wondering if I made the right choice with my first ATV.

Hang in there, everything and I mean everything can have a initial problem. During the first few hours of operation most things will show up. I have ridden Polaris snowmobiles and Artic Cat, both have had a hickup in the beginning and have run out fine after that. That is why they have warranty periods that cover items like this.
I have had to take new cars back quite a few times for warranty and I paid a lot more for them than the quad.
Again, hang in there......
