A friend has a U2500 Warn winch for sale cheap. He used it on a utility trailer. My question is will it work on a ATV. It looks just like the ATV model 2500 without a remote switch. Any help will be appreciated.

Generally, 'most anything can be rigged to work on an ATV, even an automobile starter motor with a spool, as a winch, I suppose. You may have to fabricate or buy a fairlead for the U2500 if it has none. From the model number, the U2500 probably shares motor and geartrain with the A2500 (and A2000); oughta work just great. The 12-volt motor has no conscience, it doesn't know whether it's on an ATV or a trailer.

If you want an economical and effective winch, go for it; Warn customer service can answer any questions and provide any parts you might need; you don't need the remote switch and solenoid ("connector") setup if you don't want it. Good luck!
