Default v-force reeds blew

imhaving $hit luck so far this year with my machine ..went for a ride after work today and flying down the trail i heard a pop and my machine bogged out and coasted to a stop,i checked my plug and there was a piece of carbon fiber between the resistor and the threads of the plug.took my reeds out and 1 of the fins is gone.how long do v-force reeds usually last?mine are only about a year old..im worried about that pedal inside the motor, should i be?i can buy replacment pedals right?

The rest of your reed petal should be in the pipe.I have had this happen to me also.If you have the ones that are adjustable you need to set them in high tension.A year and a half is about normal life ,as the tips will begin to chip off.You are looking at around $50 for some new petals, you can't just buy the ones that are damaged you have to get the whole set.

should i take the pipe off and take it out?it was only half a pedal that broke off from the center piece of the cage.when i ordered them i thought the dealer said they were vforce 2's but im not sure, they only say vforce on them.they dont seem to be adjustable at all?the other pedals look like they are new,no chips or cracks anywhere..

While you are waiting for the new petals,go ahead and clean the pipe out.The II's are suppose to be adjustable.

Most definately have them on high tension, make sure the screws are tight on the adjustment as well. Didn't get mine completely tight once worked loose and went to the low tension setting and they didn't last long after that!

It also doesn't hurt to run the $19 reed spacer. Heat and vibration are the worst enemies of carbon fiber...the spacer gets them a bit further away from all the action of the combustion process.

for high tension the reed stop would be moved back.

Whats the reason for running them in the high tension setting? is there a performance advantage? or does it just make em last longer?

both when they are set at the high tension you get longer life also at the high setting you get top end power if you set them at low you will get bottom end but less reed life
