Hi all!

I have read a couple of threads speaking of a 1st and a 2nd edition for the SP 500 '00.

I have a yellow SP 500 '00 bought April 15th and am wondering if it is a first or second edition.

How can I verify this?

Thanks!

Are you talking about the Remington Special Edition and the Ducks Unlimited Special Edition? The RSE and DUSE are the only "edition's" that I've heard of.

No, not a special edition but let's call it a version (year 2000 vs year 2000 & 1/2). It seems like they improved some stuff during the year like the gas cap, etc...

I just want to make sure that I have either and adjust mine accordingly if it is an early version.

Thanks!

Oh, so you are talking about stuff like tie rod ends, and belt covers. Not sure on those (dates/models), but I'm sure somebody knows and will help.

well You can by look at your PVT belt cover, it is rounded or is there a circle towards the front and then it drops off and and has many differently agled faces to it or if it is a rounded cover with not true "edges"

if it is rounded its the second version
Also if you ahve a EBS decal on the yellow plastic it self it is the first version

if u have a pic of the side of it i can tell u

have fun man

Chris

Also u know the clear label on the "hood" and it is located behind the rack if u are in front of the SP and it will have a date it is the day it was made tell me that and i will identify it for u

The date reads 02/28/2000.

The cover looks like the later model because it is rounded on the edge and only has a small cone in the middle. There is no EBS sign anywhere except on the belt cover itself.

I am puzzled because the later model is said to have a rubber seal under the gas cap but mine is made of cork.

Maybe an hybrid? :-)

Thanks for the info!

Print out the 2000 Sportsman Parts Manual from the Polaris website and compare your production date with the changes within the manual for different parts.

One obvious change is the larger disk brake rotors and they have vents cut in them! Ross
