Default 400 scrammy belt hitting

I have a 97 400 4x4 scrammy and when the bike is decelerating at about 10 mph or so the belt slaps the cover, not hard but still slaps it. I have 10 in between centers and about 1/8 in or so sticking out of the secondary so the deflection should be correct. It is also a pretty new belt , so that should not be an issue. Any Ideas?

you cant go by the 1/8 sticking out of the driven clutch and assume the belt deflection is correct.

That is very true. I would be willing to bet that the secondary clutch buttons need to be replaced. The primary is probably releasing quicker than the secondary can close up and that is letting the belt slap the bottom.
