Idle/ Running Problem
#1
I'm new here. This is my first post, looking for some help.
I've got around a '94 or so Polaris Explorer 400.
The problem started out small and has gradually gotten much worse.
At first it would idle slightly lower. This progressed to the point where it would cut off at idle, to the point of having to gas it at idle to keep it running. Then it would start to cut off while in motion after letting off the gas. Then to the point of basically always having to be on the throttle. Now it wont run for more than a minute or so before it cuts off. Last time i tried it, it started up pretty easily, but after it cut off within a couple minutes it was more difficutl to start it back up. Basically its immobile now. Yeah, I should have looked into the problem when i first noticed it, but time/money/etc.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and if you can offer any advice, thanks.

If anything..I would check the idle screw first..then check to see if the cable running into the carb is loose...has your quad sat for an extended period of time??? Since you have an older machine you might want to check your air intake..I know I had a dirtbike that sat over winter...then I had a mouse nest caught up in the snorkel..so make sure you have good airflow....if anything....do that..then clean the carb and jets...Doesn't really cost anything sep some time...and if your still having problems with the idle after doing all of that..then you might have a bigger issue on your hands.
