On my race mod, I have been running hpd lite blue, s55s with violet sec. Went with the violet primary (now almond) from hpd, stall around 4500 --- WOW! But i seem to have a problem. In medium packed dirt it lit the tires up for at least 80 feet. plus, on top it was turnin 8000. Man that was an awsome ride but I gotta think that it just wont work. I guess Ill try the 58s. What kinda clutching are some of you fellas running with the race mod??? Thanks!

 

I tried just about every setup I could this weekend against Ced and the boys. I went from a light blue s55 to violet s55, dark blue with s58 and various gearing changes, in the silty sand of Sahara no setup I ran was head and shoulders above the rest. I know with the 12 paddle extremes the light blue with the s55 and 13-40 gearing was the ticket. With my 10 paddle haulers I had the best luck with the light blue, s55 and 14-34/36. Hope this helps.

 

that sound close to mine,,except i don't use polaris weights anymore,,
with 55g that quad is pretty loaded enough with good response,,i always use violet secondary to hpd8 spring,depending on conditions.
blue hpd primary all the way,,righ now i run a 12-34 gearing for the trails and work great with thundershift weights,44-38 hpd helix,HPD

Whitedog what do you mean that it just won't work...are u thinking that it is turning tomuch rpm?

 

I have a shift kit from a 500 going to try the bare spring in there in the primary wonder how many times it will flip me backwards LOL


It has 56 weights in it should be ok i think...

Violet Rear Spring on 2-2 with 44/38 Helix in kit so the primary and weighting should be all I have to figure out...

 

Yeah they say a race mod is out of its powerband around 7500. It was turning 8000+..... I was running 3 to 400 yards and 14/34 gear. Man it hit hard outa the hole! Almost felt like a different bike. But it was just spinnin spinnin spinnin. And as the saying goes "If ur spinnin, u aint winnin" Gues ill try the s58s this weekend. And try to find a tighter surface to test on.

 

That's the only bad thing about the violet primary, almost need a 10-56 weight setup so it doesn't spin so much off the line!

 

So can't you fix that with gearing or a better tire set up? Seems to me you have your clutching going and all you need to do now is get it on the ground. Are you dirt drag racing with wheelie bars...just wondering....this clutching stuff gets me all confused..... I am running the violet primary 55s violet secondary with the 44 helix...But i only run the sand dunes with 10 paddle haulers. I am looking to go the 14 34 sprocket from the 14 36 to keep mine from spinning so much.

 

I don't think 14-34 will be enough to keep it from spinning badly, expecially since you have the stroker. I've got the race mod on alky and even with the 14-34 it's hard to hook it up and I have 10 paddle haulers as well. I know Dennis isn't a big fan of the violet primary! The sand dunes we ride at is extremely silty and dry!
