What's up with Polaris?
My name is Craig and I'm a senior marketing student at a small college in CA. My final project is a study of the ATV market in general and Polaris in detail. The problem is I'm not an ATV rider, so I know almost nothing.
Can you tell me, what is Polaris known for? Sport ATVs, hunting/camping ATVs or more utility/work ATVs? Are they an innovator with lots of unique product features or is their product pretty much the same as everyone else? Why did you choose Polaris over other brands like Yamaha or Honda?
Thanks for your help. I look forward to learning about and hopefully riding ATVs.

they do have a Sport ATV, the Predator 500. They are mainly known for their Utility based Sportmans series, and possibly for the Scrambler series. They are made in the USA, unlike Honda Yamaha, etc. They are very reliable, as long as you take good care of it. Many people that ride other brands, exspecially Honda riders it seems, find fun in bashing upon Polaris. well, those people dont know ****. Polaris is a good brand.

hey craig good luck in your studies i just finished my B.E.D at university.
For some input this is what i have to say. To study the market you should break down buyers into catagories and study it that way. I mean utility , sport, racing and beginnner and youth. To study polaris in detail is the fun part. Just take a peak at how polaris is an innovator(spellling) in all the right areas. Transmissions, suspension, and ground clearance. All other manufacturers have copied there success without exception, I challenge anyone to say different!!! This should be an easy paper to write good luck!

Polaris is the ATV everyother ATV company wants to be. They made the worlds first auto ATV, first IRS ATV, first true AWD ATV, first ATV made in the good USA, first and only EFI 4x4, first disc brakes, first full floorboards, first ATV with a built in tach, and much much much more. Polaris has more innovations than anyother ATV company, thats just a fact. Polaris' Sportsman line is the best selling line of ATVs in the world. Polaris has sold more than 6X all of the other ATV companys together when it comes to the auto trans. They have 23% of the ATV market, just right behind Honda. They most likely will pass them this year making them the worlds largest. They are in almost every market, however they need more sport quads. They own the 4x4 market though. I picked Polaris because they have the best 4x4 ATVs in the world in my opition. Hope this helps!
Oh yea, the ATV market toped out at close to 800,000 ATVs in the US last year. About 200,000 of that were Polaris quads. These are US totals only.

Polaris has their hands into everything. ATVs are the main business (65%) of business i think. Their atv's cover everything from youth models for kids, performance models, and work/hunting atvs. Their work and hunting atvs (sportsman line) has set the standard over the years for big bore atvs. First automatic atv, first independent rear suspension, first full floorboards, and many more innovations. First domestic built atv engine in the Sportsman 600/700 atv's. First EFI atv.
The Ranger line is becoming the known leader in the utility market as the toughest and best riding utility vehicle, very popular with hunters and farmers especially.
The MSX line of watercaft has been successful for Polaris also, they are 3rd or 4th in the watercraft market.
They started the snowmobile business and have dominated the business for years.
The Victory Vegas motorcylce has won tons of awards the past 2 years for best motorcycle.
Lots of history and innovation in this company.
I'd contact them and have them send some info to you, they are celebrating thier 50th anniversary this year and sure they have tons of info available.
As a dealer we love their products and love working with them.
