Default Xplorer 400 Chain tension?

After tightening the chain do you check the tension with the suspension collapsed? The owner's manual doesn't say one way or the other. I'm worried because the chain gets tighter with the suspension collapsed. Also, how much deflection should the chain have? Any help would be appreciated.

You can do it other ways but this is how you should do it.. ratcet strap your suspension down in the back till it is bottomed out and tighten the chain until there is 1/4 to 1/2 deflection.... I never really do it this way but I did the first couple times and it works.... otherwise just tighten it so its not hanging there or so it doesnt slip.......... Good luck

Yes the chain is adjustable, But it does not matter what position the suspension is in for tension, collapsed or not it should be the same on a CONSENTRIC DRIVE machine

so for the 98 xplorer, just tighten it up so it does not slip or hang?
