Clutch tune up??
#1
I just read in one of the other posts that the clutch should be tuned up sometime. This is the first time I have heard of this. What is involved? How often should it be done. I have 1100 hard miles on my 400, is it due?
This could explain why my buddys quad somehow got faster than mine...lol

Aside from belt wear you should check the button's at least 1X a year, depending on your riding style. I have a roller kit and still check the bearings routinely, out of habit.
Different wear patterns on a belt can indicate several causes. Alignment should be checked while your at it, but I would say the most neglected parts are the button's.
Don't forget to inspect the seal behind the Primary clutch.

Polaris reccommends to replace it everytime you remove the cover, but you can probably flip it and use it again. I've had my cover off 10X and used the same outter seal, but of course my 400 never see's mud or water. It would'nt hurt to buy a pack of clip's (the one you should have toward to rear of the cover) and put a few more around the cover.
