Get the Rancher and with the money you saved buy tires, winch, and rims. This is what my friend did and now it will go every single place my sp500 will. Also when we pulled each other, he didnt spin but i couldnt pull him. So the 25" vamps he has on right now are nice. Then you have honda reliability and it just looks so good with vamps.

I am suprised that people are giving you advice when the only real info. you have supplied is a price range. When a person buys an atv. His/Her personality and needs should dictate one kind of an atv to buy from any brand. Will he use it for fun only? Will he use it on a farm for work? Is he
a hunter? DOes he want to plow snow? etc. etc. etc. Then people respond back with good information about atv's they have experience with that match up with your needs. Now thats good advice....... rangerchet

I like my xpedition 425 cc 5-speed. I am glad I bought it. It is very tough in the woods. It will go 55 mph. so it is not slow. It is a good mud machine, if you replace the stock tires some day. I am a grouse hunter and it worked very well last fall. I trail ride with it in the summer and even ice fish with it in the winter. It continues to perform well. IT has 1000 miles on it now, so it is broke in all the way, for sure now. I can carry
a passanger and that is usefull. When it does get stuck in the mud its always due to running out of clearance, not because it ran out of power. If you
are interested in a 5-speed shift, its a fine machine. There is no low range/high range stick. Just the 5-speed, neutral and reverse for both 2wd and 4wd., of course. rangerchet polaris xpedition 425 cc 5 speed.

I looked at the Kodiak 2000 and drove both a 500SP 00' and 400Kod. I like the lightness of the Kod but vibration was very noticeable. Not so with the SP500.The boy that owned the Kod later traded it for traxter because he had a fair amount of trouble with cooling sysstem. The fellow with the sp500 still has his. I bought a 00SP 500 and I love it.

You can't go wrong with the Xplorer 400. Even though it is a 2-stroke. Man is it fun, and the four wheel drive system is second to none. One thought, go to the dealership and go to the back of a sportsman 500 and try to lift by yourself, then go over to the 400 Xplorer. The Xplorer is ALOT lighter than the 500. And the best thing the Xplorer will eat 600 Grizzleys for breakfest and then **** them out at noon! One more thing is look back at the post in this forum you very rarley see any problems with the 400 Xplorer. But I am not saying the 500 is bad I mean read the mags. but for the price you are talking about Xplorer is tough to beat.
