can some1 explain what a ratchet clutch is?

Well i just druled all opver my key board at the new 05 pred and its hot but the olny thing that conufsed me was the term ratchet cluch. Sum1 please x plain???

also i think its allows u to shift real easy without much effort which might not be good on holeshots cuz u might be hitting the wrong gears. kinda like small cc 4 stroke dirtbikes how they shift real easy and smooth

The racheting isn't the clutch, but an internal shifting mechanism in the trans. It's the smoothest shifting performance on a sport quad. Both the standard Pred and the TLD for 05 will offer it, but the TLD will have the closer ratio trans for gears 2-4, but still has a rippin fast 5th gear. The best of all worlds, and well thought out.

a ratchet shifter works basically like a ratchet once u start to shift it wont let it come back (until it engages a gear) and will make it easier on the tranny and rider, have yet to ride one but in cars a ratchet shifter makes for very firm positive shifts EVERY time, i wish polaris would put efi on a pred or come out with a kit just my oppinon

Weel said modquad. I wish I could of been at the party. but live too far away to go. Modquad was any of the ATV tv shows there to tape the event ? Thanks for the party updates modquad for us that didn't make it.
