any suggestions

I have a 92 trail boss 250, nothing special. Anyways, its been sitting for almost 2 years and I was trying to get it running again today. Compression is good, spark is good, replaced the fuel filter cleaned out the tank and put fresh fuel in it. Can not get the thing running though, it just cranks and cranks but wont run. When i put starter spray in it, it will fire right up run for a sec or two and shut off like it isnt getting fuel still. Any suggestions on what to try next to get the darn thing running at least. thanks

I would be 99.9% sure that the carb just needs cleaned. Its actually a pretty easy job to do, some people are intimidated though. take carb off the bike--take off the float bowl and everything is right there. Take a can of carb cleaner and spray enough into a bowl to submerge all the parts into it and let it set overnight. that will ensure that it will clean all the buildup out of the small passages. then take each part and blow carb cleaner through it and then compressed air through it. Keep all parts organized and clean. reassemble the carb and put it back on the bike. Once fuel hits the carb and can almost guarantee that it will run like a top!!!!!! and make sure you put a FUEL FILTER on, otherwise- all your work will be wasted!!!
