Hi guys......well it finally happened to me.....damn.....I am pissed at the polaris engineers. I realize the front fenders come off very easily, but those gas tank mounts are junk. Anyways, how do you guys suggest fixing the tank mount? The plastic is broken off smooth, and I'll have to buy a new mount, because I lost it. What have you guys done?? Thanks a lot guys.

 

I also was unhappy with the way the plastics mounted to the tank. What I did was to remove the c-clip on the plastics and the bolt and washer out of the tank. I carefully measured and drilled a hole through the plastic on both sides lining up with the bolt holes in the tank.
I went to Ace hardware and got longer bolts, nylon washers, and a metal trim washer to go over that. Then I bolted the plasics directly to the tank. Much better!! No more rattling or vibrations from the front plastics and it looks like it came that way [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Actually what I did to make sure the hole was exactly in the right place was to install the stock bolts into the tank and use a paint pen to color he tops of the bolts. Then I put the plastics on, lined them up and pushed it against the mounting bolt leaving a mark on the inside of the plastics. Perfect place to drill [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

I after looking at it for a while the only good idea i could come up with was what 1toby1 said.
