Default 2005 Sportsman 500

Why did the 500 gain weight from 677 to 715#?

Why did the 700 gain weight from 720 to 765#?

Also, how did they accomplish the 1.5" wider track?

I think you almost answered your question... a wider track means more material steel, plastic, ect.. hence more weight.. Im sure there is more stuff that attributed to it than this like the reciever hitch new front rack...ect, but this is probably the majority of the weight gain..
