Hey lurch,
First of all the 250 recon would be a good competition with the 250 Xplorer(very close).
Why does the Xplorer have chain drive??? isn't shaft better??

2nd of all GMC truck's rock...their better than Ford or dodge. But then you were only joking.

shaft drive is more reliable, but chain is more efficiant at puting power to the ground. chain is also lighter, and polaris needs to do everything they can to make them puppies lighter!!

Yep turd is right. The chain is much more efficient at transfering power. Plus it is cheaper and lighter. Shaft is great, but in this case, I think the chain is sufficient.

I really have nothing against GM, I just grew up in a Ford family, and now own a Dodge. I just like to rib on you GM guys. You got to love big American trucks!

hey guys,
This is a little off subject, But, Those Dodge trucks rule.. Pretty neat, The limited slip is the best I have seen, Its a tough choice for me, Dodge or Chevy? Only time will tell.

One thing I like about the Dodge, is the solid front axle. Sure, it may not ride a nice, but it is close. And that baby is tough! Cheap to modify if you want to go that way also.

We have a 98 1500 Chevy silverado,
Dodge is nice but I dislike Ford.

Does anyone know what Chevy has for the front axle???...I think it's Limited Slip...am I right?
4wd Hi is 4wd differential, 4wdLo is limited slip???(not sure)

We have driven in some pretty rough conditions with snow up here in the winter, and we've never got stuck...my dad pulls my ATV out of mud when it's stuck. It's a good truck we have never fixed it, it's on a lease and it's almost up, we be getting a '01 Chevy truck in Oct.

No, you have an open diff in the front end. The rear may or may not be a limited slip. It is an option for the rear.
4 high is just 4 wheel drive with the standard gears. You can use this for things like slippery roads and whatnot. 4 wheel low runs through a lower set of gears in the transfer case. This is used when you want extra torque for crawling and towing at low speeds.
The selection of 4 wheel high or 4 wheel low only affects the transfer case, it does nothing with the front or rear differentials.
