Default Axle problems

I just purchased a set of 26 inch vampire tires. Everyone keeps telling me that I am asking for trouble by buying them. They tell me how I will tear out my axles. Can someone please enlighten me on this. Is there some precaution that I need to take.

the explanation that I got was that the deep lug will bind in a bad hole and if hammered on it will twist the axle or the u joints

what kind of bike did you put them on?

only thing i can think of, is that a bigger tire with big lugs, weighs more. and with larger tires in general, you will place a little more leverage against the axle and/or swing arm. this might cause stress issue.

if you put em on a sportsman with IRS, i wouldnt worry about anything at all.

You wont stripe the axle but you will strtip the splines out of the rear hub.Do like I do carry a spare hub in the truck.
