I am almost certain that the Polaris 4 strokes all use the same oil filter (with exception to the Sportsman twins and the Pred). They are listed as all the same in the Wix catalog

I asked the same question and found that they are compatible. One is simply "longer" than the other, but there's no problem with the fit. Go either way, but the xxxxx63 is longer and has a tad more filter surface area.

So, how do you like your Boss? Love mine, though it's a bitch when first starting up. Needs quite a bit of warmup time. But then, it rocks.

Thanks,I like my trail boss..It is a good all around trail quad, but like you say it needs a wile to warm up..I wonder how much of a pain that will be in the winter??I just orderd the RCR stage 1 kit, that will give it more bottom end..

The warm-up is not "much" different in the Winter -- just a "little bit" longer.

By the way, if you notice some tinny vibration noise in the front, especially if you ride rough terrain, look at your radiator grill mounts (4 of them). One or two of them like to break off, which can be easily and permanently fixed with a good pop rivet. Polaris should get their act together on this minor issue. Most 2004 Trail Bosses I've seen have had this small pain-in-the-*** problem.

Good riding!

why don't you get an aftermarket filter instead of buying a $12 oil filter. you can get a napa gold #1356 or wix #51356. I went to autozone and cross referenced the 1356 to an stp filter #6607, they are only $3.79 each. what a savings.
