Go to traderonline.com and do a search for going prices, and go to the kelly blue book sight for trade in and retail prices. I have a 95' Sportsman 400 and love it. I bought mine for $2300, but had to do some repairs, I would look around and make the best choice for the price and condition you can afford. I have seen them for $3500-4500 in good to excelent condition on traderonline.com.
Don't be afraid to some repairs if needed, but the price should reflect it. I have a total of $3300 and change into mine. I rebuilt the motor, installed new rear chains and sprockets, 4 new tires, hand guards, gun/bow rack, a winch, a plow, and trailer to hual it on.
