THIS MAY SOUND LIKE A STUPID QUESTION. BUT I HAVE A 02 SPORTSMAN 500 AND WAS WONDERING WHAT GEAR I SHOULD BE IN ????? I HAVE READ A FEW OTHER POSTINGS THAT TALKED ABOUT BURNING UP THE BELT.

 

hi is fine most of the time, it's just a little easier on the machine if you go ahead and put it in low when you're gonna be traveling at low speeds, and definitely be in low when towing anything.

 

If your going to be traveling at 7mph or less for more than a few minutes it should be in low or if for instance your loading it into your trailer up ramps or small, slow hills. If you hit a big hill going faster with a head of steam your ok in high. Or any low speed pulling & towing.
