Default Sportsman winch!

Using high range in the mud makes no sense at all. All your friend is doing is hurting his quad. I stay with low range always unless I am expecting speeds to stay over 25mph.

hey Ty.. I find the 400 has more than enough power for where I go, and I go alot into the middle of nowhere alot...My bud's 500ho does get up to speed quicker and goes faster when were on the open road but other than that I'm content!

I know low range for mud, i meant more of short crossings- a lot of trails at my camp cross brooks, which is just a muddy ditch across the trail. You are in the mud for no more than 2 or 3 seconds, but i have trouble crossing it in high, which is why i use low. just annoying because there is only one or two on the whole trip, and it is a wide open trail usually.
