Default VIN numbers

Does anyone know where I can get a chart or something that tells what each number means?My manual tells me what set of numbers tell what but dont say what the certan numbers are saying.Can anyone understand what I am asking.Like say what the differant numbers/letters tell what yr .

the year is the 10th digit in on the vin number

I figured that out after awhile.My tenth didgit is an X for 2000.

According to the POWERSPORTS VEHICLE BLUE BOOK

Positions:

1,2,3
Country & manufacturer

4,5,6,7,8
Model

9
Check digit (can be any of 1-9 or x no reason for this #)

10
Model year
B 1981
C 1982
D 1983
AND SO ON TILL Y 2000
1 2001
2 2002
3 2003
AND SO ON

11
Factor

12,13,14,15,16,17,
Sequential Production Number

You said yours is an X that is a 1999 model year

called my Pol dealer today 4 ya!

here it goes:

1st 3 is mfg id# (fed requirement to have)

next is body style #

then powertrain# or letter

then engine #s (2 didgets usually)

next emmission # (i know it sounds wierd)

check didget #

then model yr.

then plant #

the last 6 didgets are the actual serial #.

hope this helps bro! all very confusing to me! LOL!

This is a little off topic, but MT are you going to upgrade to the 800? I am really thinking it over hard.
