Default timing on 400

I thought I had this written down somewhere, but I gues I dont. Which way do you go with the stator plate to advance? And how far, for say, 1 or 2 degrees?

Thanks.

The stator plate needs to be rotated to the left to advance.About an 1/8" is 2 degrees.I like stock timing myself.

Just always remember to go opposite direction of the motor to advance.

CED, have you thought about advancing a couple of degrees with alky? CPI recommended it to me for best power.

Yeah,i have tried every setting and always settled on stock. When i had it advanced it would pull hard then just seem to fall kinda flat.I ran it this weekend with the timing set on stock and i really like the way it pulled.

Yes, stock timing would be best for you.

tbsleeper its hard towhat it will really do for a particular motor as the characteristics of the engine itself come into play. I have had some cars react good from advancing the timing some like crap.

your advancing when the spark occures in the combustion cycle. quick explaination is that again depending on the engine, you can increase the force at which the piston is pushed down by the combustion of fuel. This in turn will give you more power.

I wish I could give you a better explaination but I'm having a W moment today. feeling alittle short bus.

I think mine may be advanced too far now, because sometimes after Ive been running it, shut it down then restart it. It will backfire.
