I just bought a 2000 scrambler. The chain was extreamly loose so i took it into the shop for and over all check up and had them fix the chain. When i change the shift **** from neutral to drive i have to shove it and sometimes it does not go in all the way. I am making shure that the engine is not reving to prevent the gears from grinding but i belive that it has alrady occored. i bought the atv used in ok to good condition for $2200. I am also looking to put some now parts onto it. I was wondering where I could find HPD parts such as the airbox. chain tensioner, and shift ***** to make my atv looking good. It would be great to get some feed back about the gear grinding situation.

The shifter problem is most likely due to the linkage being out of adjustment. If you look at the linkage, you can loosen the 2 jam nuts and turn the rod in or out to adjust it so that it goes into gear firmly. You should hear it pop into gear. You may have to play around with it to get it just right. You can get the HPD parts either right from HPD or from Rick Ritter at RCR. Ricks customer service is the best in the business. Oh, and for the shift *****, just go down to your local auto parts store and get one. That is where I got my skull **** at

All you described is normal.
Go though Rick and get your mods, if you have the 400 a pipe and clutch kit will really liven it up!
