Default what is the best fuel for atv?

Well i was wondering what is the best octane fuel used in a atv and why. 87,89,or 91. any name brand gas. what about little country store. if the gas has contaminants in it will that have a bad effect on performance. is the more expensive better. should a person be more particular about where or what he puts in the tank. thanks

Our dealer just said to pull up to the pump, put the unleaded regular in, and have fun. I really don't think the brand matters as long as it's clean and fresh.

I think the days of Sunoco 260 are gone

u need to run at least 87 and try to cut down on ethonal... any higher is just waisting your money unless u have some kinda proformance kit in

im pretty sure that all the higher octane does it make it burn hotter. which u might not want in some cases... go and try it and find out if it works better for ya i mean its not like your spending that much more

I heard it was the opposite. I heard that the higher octane runned cooler than the less octane. i read that on a post a while back.

My dad filled mine up with premium without me knowing it and I asked him if he did something to my Scrambler because it seemed to run much better and he just said he put premium in it. I can definately notice a difference.

It's amazing how so many people believe such bull about gasoline.

Run the lowest octane in your machine that does not pre-detonate. For every single production atv mass produced in the USA this will be 87 octane with the exception of the yfz, gas gas, and a few 2 strokes.

The gas will not make your engine run cooler, or hotter. Nor will you gain anything by running a higher octane than your compression ratio determines you NEED. You may even lose performance by running higher octane fuels.

Running higher octane to "be on the safe side" is ignorant. Run what works and nothing higher or lower. You wouldnt jet the quad way too high to "be on the safe side" so dont run 5+ octane points higher for that reason.

So you are saying that there will be no difference in performance, except possibly a loss, from running 87 octane to 115?
