tire rub tie rod
#1
My brand new tires ( 26x9x12 589's) are rubbing the tie rod end on the right side only. Why does it only rub on the right? I have 12x6 .190 douglas wheels, and due to the thick bolt plate on the rim and the short 10mm studs I cannot get a washer in there. Help. Why does the left front work perfectly( same tire wheel combo)?

I think I am wrong above. I think 26x9x12 still uses a 12x6 rim and your ok. I think the cut off is then and is why I have a 12x7 rim due to 26x10x12 tire in front. I remember highlifter telling me that there would be some rubbing on the right front tire and I could take a knife and cut my tire lug down on the track where the rubbing is. I did not want to lower my tires performance by hacking on it with a knife and I do not have this reported rubbing. I think you can either, not worry about it and or cut your tire lug.

Don't ask why, but it seems the right side has less clearance on my ride, too. If all else fails, you can get front wheel spacers from Hot Seat or most other places of the sort & have plenty of clearance. The kits seem expensive for what they are, but I guess they work. Don't know how widening out the front end will affect tie rod life, though.

No they dont sell a boot alone. They only sell the
complete tie-rod end/with boot.
If your in the mud and water the tie-rod end will wear out sooner. It will last for a while though with out the boot. rangerchet
ps: I dont understand. I have larger tires then you in the front and I have no real rubbing. I am not using spacers. with my itp magnum billet aluminum rims. there is enough room for spacers if
they were needed. ??????????????????

Try going to your local John Deere, Case IH or other dealer who sells garden tractors. They should be able to find a boot to fit. On our JD garden tractor we tore a boot and thought we would have to get a whole tie rod but found they sell the boots seperately. Don't know if they have one that would fit exactly, but you should find one that is close. This was a few years ago & don't know if they still do this, but it can't hurt to try.
