Default Need your wisdom

Hi this is my first post but it looks i like i will be around here a lot more after tomarrow. Now to my question. I plan on purchasing an 04 700 EFI Saturday but is it worth it to pay an extra 1000+ for an 05. Please let me know what I should do.
thanks

welcome to the forums

to start out look at the new features with the 05 do you need these or not. the wider stance in the front.. storage boxes on the racks.. reverse lights/work lights..

in my opinion i wouldnt get the 05 i really dont care for the look of them they just look so huge

is this your 1st atv? if so then i think you should save your 1000 dollars and look at the 04.5 model.

Thanks for the quick reply
no this isnt my first quad i have a yfz450 but this my first utility since 2001 500 HO.
I am just not sure if the stance and a little extra travel will be worth it.

I will primarily be using this quad for recreation use.
your advice is what i am thinking take the 1k and run
also what is the difference between 2004 and 2004.5

For that much difference I can't see it being worth the price. If you can get the 04 still I'd grab it.

I have the 04.5 but still call them an 04, I honestly don't think theres a difference but I know on the polaris website all but the 700EFI has the 04.5 designation listed only for the 04.5 having an electronic fuel gauge with low-fuel flasher. I believe all the 700 EFI's made came standard with the electronic fuel guage with low-fuel flasher. this is why I tend not to call the EFI's a 2004.5 when it was on just the non EFI models that made a change half way through the model year. everyone just likes to call there quads an 04.5 cause it sounds newer or something.

actually silverbullet2005 the 04 and the 04.5 (split year model) are not the same the digital crap on the speedo is different and there is a fuel gauge... the front hubs are also inturnal in the diff case instead of outside the wheel thus calling this the 04.5 split year model

I think there's a few other minor differences between 04 and 04.5, in the service manual every once in a while you can find a section saying "Late model" and "Early model" with two different pictures. those are really minor differences though, the hubs and the gas gauge are the only noticable difference. Not sure though

I bought the '05, but I think you would be happy with either. The main reason I went with the '05 is the storage. Before my '05, I had to attach a bag on the rear rack to hold extra items like air pump, first aid kit, etc. The is only so much that will fit in the storage under the seat on the '04. My '05 I have a ton of stuff in the storage area's..

The wider stance, engine and suspension changes, lock and ride, etc. are plus items.
