I recently took a trip to Lake City, CO to ride ATVs. On the trip back home, one of the straps snapped and my SP500 came off the trailer at 65mph. It flipped, rolled, hit a guard rail and ended up upside down. Needless to say, there is a good bit of damage (although not as much as I would have expected). I need to keep the repair costs down so I plan to do the work myself and would like to find used parts in good condition rather than order all new parts. Does anyone know where I can locate parts for 2000 SP500...maybe a place that has wrecked ATVS like an ATV salvage business, etc. Parts include: steering shaft, handle bars, hand grips, rear subframe(tail section), rear composite rack & rack extension, front right A-arm, front right CV joint, seat cover, throttle lever & cover, headlight switch, headlight/speedometer plastic dome cover, choke lever, 4WD switch, rear rack support (frame mounts), front rack composite & extension, back plastic section.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Art

Sorry to here that but here is some worse news you need to replace the frame there is no replacment sub frame. you may have some one make you one but good luck buy a new frame. Did you have insurance ? If not why it is cheap. Way cheaper then the repairs will cost sounds like to me that it is totaled. Good luck.

The damage to my 2000SP500 was similar when I flipped down the mountain in AR. With the exception of the frama damage, all the repairs are very simple, although time consuming.

Remember to put new bolts and lock tight on the a-arm bolts or they wil back themselves out and could be a hazard.

you were pulling your quad with a insured vechile,RIGHT.
I'D call the insurance company and see if you can cover it under the COMPREHINSIVE PART OF THE POLICY if you have it. I know it's a long shot, but if you have been a long time customer, talk with your agent he will probaly be able to help.

GOOD LUCK,
VIC
p.s.
check on atv insurance at weinsurefun.com
thats where I have mine at and it runs me aprox.$200 a yr. full coverage 15/30/5 with a $250 ded. on a 2000 POLARIS Sportsman 500

We had a customer that the exact same thing happened to him. His insurance agent said he was out of luck. He spends about $4500 a year on insurance, he has a new insurance company now. Lots of companys cover the trailered item with the homeowners or auto policy.

Where do you get your insurance??? Out here on the farm, it costs me under $30 a year to insure my Xplorer with $500 deductable. Since it is a 4x4, it qualifies as farm use equipment, thus the low rate. Might be worth mentioning to anyone who farms & is thinking about insurance.
Sorry about the mishap. All the used parts I know of offhand are already bent.
