i had a problem with my front left hub staying engauged so i started to use mobil 1 synthetic atf in my front hubs and it took care of the problem for me.don't know if the oil was the actual problem in the hub but it doesn't do it anymore since switching to the mobil 1.

cekeith,
Use the Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in the front hubs, and Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube(75W-90) in the tranny. Have used both with no problems. The gear oil runs $7-$8 per quart, and the ATF costs about $5 per quart. A quart of the ATF will last a long time, according to how often you change the front hub fluid. I would change it at least twice per year, checking it every other ride or so for proper level and contamination by water(if you ride in any water). Hope this helps. Also, you can save some money by going to a wix filter, part# 51358. Call different auto parts places to find one that carries wix brand oil filters. It costs around $6 versus $11-$13 for the polaris oil filter, and wix is one of the best filters on the market. Even though some guys use Fram, it is a cheap filter, and I wouldn't use one even if it was given to me. Find a place with a cutaway of different filters, and that speaks for itself. You can also use that same mobil 1 synthetic gear oil for the front diff. While I'm talking up Mobil 1, I even use their synthetic grease for greasing all the zerks. If you have any other questions, ask, and somebody on here will help you. Greg Sims is very knowledgable on the SP500, and I consider myself somewhat educated on that particular bike. Somebody used to use this phrase, and even though I'm not the originator, I still like it: "Ride it like you stole it!!!"
