Question about FMF Slipon (predator)
#1
I just got my new slip on and was trying to install, but ran into a snag.
Where the head pipe and stock exhaust meet, there was a type of seal that fit around both the exhaust and header pipes (found this once I removed the header clamp). The new slip on would not fit over the existing head pipe with it on. So, I removed it (had to cut off w/box cutter). The new slip on fits nicely over the head pipe. But when I put the OEM Header clamp back on, it will not tighten enough to make a difference. So, should I go buy some type of grommet (sp) to replace the one I took off, or should I go buy some clamps and assume the silicone and clamps will keep it from leaking?
Thanks and sorry for the confusing description.

Yeah...I'm not sure if I was reading it wrong or what...
"1] Loosen the OEM header clamp at the front of the muffler.
2] Slightly loosen the header flanges at the front of the motor.
3] Loosen and remove the front OEM muffler bolt.
4] While holding the muffler, loosen and remove the rear OEM muffler bolt. Keep for later use.
5] Gently slide the muffler rearward to release it from the header. Spray WD-40 on the joint if it is
difficult to remove.
Slip the muffler inlet over the header.
10] Slide the long strap bracket carefully over the muffler and position it to the front upper mounting
point. Be careful not to scratch the aluminum canister and make sure the “inside” sticker on the
bracket is towards the subframe."
No where does it say to remove the existing piece or what....

They probably should have supplied you with a new clamp. When I bought my HMF they gave me a new clamp for the union. As others have said, call FMF and let them know your problem. They may have just forgot to include the clamp.

Not any build up. It (I think) was like high temp tape. I just siliconed it and bought new clamps.
Now, I seem to be hitting the rev-limiter a lot quicker. Someone recommended a new CDI box?
Does that sound right?
