man i would sell it it was not meant to race and its great that you have come this far on it but if your third overall on a trail blazer you will be number 1 on any of the race quads...dont let loyalty hold you back from reaching your full potential ..jmo

Take the pull rope cover off and there it is but you may need a puller to get it off.

i took the cover off, and the rope housing did indeed come unwound, ill deal with that later, but all i see is the rope housing, a nylon pulley with a center bolt hole in it. thats not it, is it, sorry this is so stupid, but i have never done this before. how do i get this nylon gear off? please help, only 3 weeks til race day..

thank you

james

thanks for the help, it looks like im gonna have to take the quad in and have the recoil fixed now, i dont understand how that whole thing goes together, one question though, can the flywheel be taken off with the engine still in the frame?and do you know if a puller is required to remove the flywheel, and if so what kind of puller? 3 jaw?

yea it can be taken out in the frame its really easy and i used a harmonic balancer puller from napa to get mine off its kind of Y shaped and has three bolts that screw into the flywheel and one that pushes off the middle of your crank to pop it off..is your electric start removed?? you can lighten the flywheel and still keep electric start. but you cant race lighten it just trail lighten..
