Default Gearing for Trail Port.

If I were to drag race my bike. What gearing would be best?

Also, should I change clutch springs?

RCR Trail Porting
K&N w/Box mod
39PWK carb
Hpd Trail Pipe
RCR Shaved Head
Wiseco piston
RCR Race flywheel
Red/Yellow Primary
Violet secondary 2-2

I plan to run a few passes down here on asphalt, to shut up some kid with a Z400, then maybe some dirt drags this spring. I still mainly trail ride, and dont want to go full race, would just like to have some easy to change parts on hand to imrove the times when I decide to run it.

Id say 13-34 or maybe higher. How long is the distance? Id Also try the blue primary with the s55s.
While your in there, you mite wanna change your secondary to 1&1. But its really not necessary for a Z400

I am running 13-34 now, which is stock. Thought with more power maybe I should change up. The asphalt race is 1/8 mile, 660 feet. The dirt drags are 300.

Put a 14 on the front for sure if your going to run 1/8th mile.

Hey Troyer, if you are talking about racing at Hatfield & McCoys, when we go. I would go with a 12 on the front, for 300 feet.... I think it would help you out alot. And if you are going to race 1/8 mile then like Bubba said the 14 tooth. I tried the 14 in 300 feet.....it did not work well for me. It was way to much gear for me. Hey you might want to bring some extra jets also I did not and was running very rich.

Yeah, those are the dirt drags I'm talking about. I plan to bring sprockets and jets.

Its done. Well, mostly. I have ridden it several times. It still has the old ratty plastic though. I am waiting to post pics once I get the new plastic.

Sorry, I thought I posted since I got the flywheel problem fixed.

I had to machine down a new key to hold it in place, the timing was way off.

I really goes now. I haven't had a chance to run it against anything, but i made a few trips down the field and back and it screams!
