Hey Primus...Just wondering how you like your Glacier? I have the same bike as you and considering getting one also...Which size blade did you go with? Thanks.

Hey fubar. I'm totally happy with that plow. I got the 60 inch Razor blade so I could throw snow to either side. They are also a bit taller than the straight blades. The worst thing about install is two bolts that have to be installed under the rad at front for mount plate. You have to remove that plastic screen that guards rad and try to jam your fingers in there to hold the nut to get it on. I had to get my wife to do it. Once you get it started you can then hold it with a wrench. All in all works well though. Your 500 has more than enough power and weight. Just have to wait and see how it lasts over the long run. Also I can't describe this very good but when you install the instructions show how to change one of the pivot points to another set of holes if your plow frame doesn't have enough ground clearance- do it before you mount the plow cause mine was dragging on the ground so I had to take it off and change it. So I imagine your 500 will be the same and need the higher setting. Instructions pretty good.
Hope that helps you. Anybody try them rubber spring spacers?

Primus
i used the Polaris rubber spacers on my old '00 SP500. i put two sets in each side up front. it made a BIG difference when plowing. also, for trail riding in the summer it provided better side-to-side stability. off-camber trail rides were more predictable.

a big plus IMO.

Primus,
i can't remember the '04.5 models having soft springs up-front end like my old '00. are you having trouble?

my '05 SP even with Glaier plow up-front, doesn't need help. it holds the weight just fine.

BTW, the rubber inserts install easily. jack-up the front end, and slide 'em in. i used a little lube on the rubber to help slide them into place easily.

hope this helps.
