i took the carnage apart, need some things explained
#1
well about a month ago i lost my enginie, and didn't take it apart until yesterday. When i took the cylinder off, i got to see the carnage. The ENTIRE piston skirt (stock Polaris piston) smashed like a glass cup into a million small pieces which then distributed themsevles EVERYWHERE. They got all through the base, etc. and now something is jammed and i havent checked what it is yet. First, what is everytihng that is in the base that could be affected by my piston pieces, and how much money do you think this will cost. Second, what caused this to happen? I have all of my mods on a stock piston if that makes a difference. Thanks for ANY help

Stock pistons are very prone to breakage. The skirts cant handle the HP when moded. And with age it gets worse. Thats too bad that it happened. One of the first things I did was put in a different piston before I started modding my 250. That is 99.9% of your problem.

thanks, before i started modding i asked on here if the stock piston could handle the mods and everyone said "yup yup no problem the stock piston will be fine", well i guess from now on i'll go with gut feeling.

Stock 400 pistons are junk! Need replaced when the new is off your NEW machine and if you get a used one it should be the FIRST mod you make! You may need to take the motor all the way down and get the stuff out of it. Hate to here this happened.
