I think every year Polaris has improved their product and today they make a killer ATV. I spend my time reading through all the manufacturers links on this forum and I can tell you that ALL the manufacturers have someone hating them and that there are issues with ALL of them. I agree with the post that was stating we need to see hard numbers before you can conclude that Polaris has poor quality. Also, as pointed out earlier, the first many years of Polaris ATVs were not met with open minds. I remember so many people trash talking the idea of putting automatic on a quad or using floor boards (or any other idea that was unique to them). Now that those ideas have caught on and proven there worth, people have to find something new to complain about. Funny how you don't see Griz (or Bruteforce, etc) people complaining about IRS like they did when Polaris implemented it... or how you don't see people complaining about automatic any more. Polaris also takes a lot of heat for making a heavy quad. For some people that is not acceptable. For me, it's very desireable. I need my quad to do a lot of work, plow snow, move my 2 place jetski trailer, yank other ATVs out of mud, have good skid plate protection, have good front and rear protection, and have awesome tires. It's hard to have all those things and still be light. The more weight you have the better the worker is is... IMO.

 

For Arctic Cat I like the new 650HI and know I heard that the engine CAT builds themselves.Finally A real CAT.I myself own A 04 Scrambler 500H.O. I love it so far its great for trailrideing,snow,and fairly good size mudd holes.The 4wheeldrive works very well too.I would be nice if it came with low range cause certain muddy situations you find power loss and 4WD system that struggles in those situations.Its my 1st polaris that Ive ever owned I just wish they would of gave it A face lift especially the trail blazer 250 make it A 250x with A more snappy 2stroke with LC and A hyper shift clutch kit.Make the performance match the look.

 

I know where your coming from I had about 4 different problems with my 04 Kawasaki Prairie 700. I had it back to the dealer about 4 times to get it jetted right, had a hesitation and took them a while to figure it out. Once they got everything figured out I never had one problem with it. I would try be patient and give the dealer some more time to try and fix your quad. It gets frustrating, I know.

I will throw my 2 cents in on this. There are 3 Polaris dealers that are somewhat close to me. I never ever had any luck with the dealer closest to me, they would climb the highest tree and stand on there heads before the would tell me the truth. The same one that said they couldn't take less than $7400 for a new 2002 Sportsman 500 ho, well that seemed to high for me, so I took a gander and drove to the futherest Polaris dealer, didnt tell them nothing just asked the price on the exact same thing that I seen at the other dealer, there price $6200 and a lot of free stuff and half price goodies. I have to drive 45 mins to there but they take care of me,good service and friendly. My parents bought a 2004 Sportsman 500 Ho from them and was satisfied with deal.(And It takes a lot to make them happy) I drive by the first dealer every day when I go to work.. they have lied so much and there prices on anything are just high, and have poor service. I wont stop even for an oil filter. I'd drive 45 mins before I took 1 min for them.

 

ill tell u why i dont like polaris
1. wieght. why would i want to ride around on a quad when it wieghs almost as much a a truck, especially in the snow?
2. trannie. i dont like belt drive trannies. i like to run threw my own gears. more fun, more control. i also help people with cvt's get unstuck when water gets in the trannie and it stops dead.
3. awd. to many electronics that can go wrong, and not very user-friendly.

 

If you would have read my post, that's exactly what I said. You didn't hear me complain anything did you, because usually it is normal to have a few problems.

 

Yeah they are heavy with that much weight ya think my scrambler would have HPG shocks it would make for A better ride.Since Ive owned it I have missed the hand clutch thats why the 1st chance I get Im getting A DS650.The ride was to my likeing Acomfortable ride with power.The predator was A to hard of A ride for me I do mostly trail rideing.

I think this is an over statment. Some people around here have there brands they perfere, I dont no anybody thats hates polaris. I used to be kind of scared of polaris till i bought my 98 425 magnum and i loved that thing after riding it a while. Only polaris i had a problem with is my predators tranny and its fixed now and havent had any more problems with it.
