Default Big Bore Preddy

OK, I know that this has been talked about, but the details I need haven't been covered. I'm having my preddy torn apart this weekend to fix the tranny, and I've decided to do a Big Bore. I am considering a 558 kit, but I want it to be trail friendly also. I love riding the track, but I also need it to handle well in the trails. I want it to be as reliable as possible, and I don't want to have to use "race fuel" mixtures. I want to be able to pull up to a 93 octane pump and fill up and ride away. I've been reading about the higher compression pistons, so I'd like to keep it in the 11:1 - 11.9:1 range. Can decent gains be made without using "JET FUEL"??? Should I cam and valve spring it too??? The only thing is I need to know soon cuz I'll be sending it out Monday. Any website links would be greatly appreciated!

Along with RAJ's suggestion of Nicholas Cycle, there's also HPD( HPD-inc.com) and Hot Seat (hotseatperformance.com) who have the larger bores. The Rath crew (Rathracing.com)could probably also get you outfitted in that arena, though they have more experience going the other way to the 440 class legal kits.

All are good sources.

There a few company's that offer many different kits for the Predator. I am using a JE 11.5:1 stock bore and very happy with it using 93 octane fuel.

If you go big bore you will need more fuel to feed it (More CFM). In order to obtain its max performance. I sold the stock carb and installed a TRX450R factory carb and have more low end and mid range than ever before. Go to servicehonda.com for the prices. The carb right from honda is $165 plus tax. Cheap bolt-on performance.

Oh as far as cams Web sells the 260i and they are a drop in. I still run the stock cams.

Finally, someone who has experience. Thank you ernie. Does the 11.5:1 piston make very much difference, only being .4:1 higher than stock? Also, does the trx carb take away any top end? I really appreciate the help!!!

The trx450r carb does not take anything away from the top end of my Predator. It has more low end grunt and pulls strong through the gears with the 11.5:1 piston but the thing is you can still run pump gas. Go to www.predatorowners.com under mods look for the thread "stock carb blues" there you will find a few that have already changed over to the 450r carb and like it very much.
