I agree, but they would argue that they were not designed to operate under that weight, even though they should IMO.

Anyone know how much a glacier system weighs? The mounting plate and then the blade/frame assembly? I have a 60" blade.

Well I know where there is 70lbs difference. My tires and wheels on my 800 weigh 40lbs more then my KQ and my racks and storage weigh 30lbs more then the KQ racks.

good post, yes it is getting old hearing about the whole weight issue which is always brought up. I always tell people that our Polaris machines weigh more cause they are built better and tougher with heavier duty parts/frame.

Whats the difference in 650lbs on top of you and 850lbs. There both gonna be hard to get off of, or hurt if it lands on ya.

I bought a Polaris simply because of the impressive suspension and chassis. After a visual comparison with Arctic Cat, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda, the choice was easy. I bought mine with plowing snow in mind and saw the extra weight as an advantage, as well as a sign of quality. The only other quad that was close was the Bombardier, but the local dealer wanted nearly $2,000 more for it. No offense to the other brands, but after looking under the rear end of the Sportsman, the rest looked like toys.

Great posts!
It's a Utility ATV, period.
The main reason I choose it was the weight. I use it mainly for pushing snow. Of course the large motor, EFI and styling had nothing to do with it (ya right!).
I also think it's great on trails, it seems to float over crests and bumps. It kind of rides like a Cadillac and hands like a Porche with 3 people in it.
Good job Polaris...

I agree 100% with the last two posts, look under the machine at the suspention its a big differance. I did!

All my freinds with lesser machines always say mine rides like a Caddy and that it still has awsome performance and speed!
