Default Desperate need for electrical help on SP800!!

I've spent about 3hrs on the 800 today trying to figure out where to put a tether cord. I need to have one or I can't race. I have a service manual and have tried every wire that said it was for a engine kill, but still can't make it work. If anyone has any experience or knows someone that does, I would really appreciate it. I allready hace cut wires and I don't want to cut more until I get a better idea. there are 7 wires that are coming out of the ignition switch plug...look at them in the order from top to bottom (white/red, red/white, red/black, red/black, yellow, black, brown)...you have to cut one of or both of the red/black wires and hook them up to the kill switch. that should work. i am looking at a wiring diagram as i type this so i think im right...

I tried grounding those wires to see if it would shut off the quad, but all I got was sparks. I think tho I just found a way. The ETC switch on the right side has a brown and black wire. According to the service manual if the black touches the brown it will stop spack to the cdi. This is a safty feature if something goes wrong with the throttle. But by hooking both wires to it from the tether one on the black and the other on the brown, you will thus touch both together cutting spark to the cdi. I guess I will have to cut more wires to find out. I will get back.

why not work with the factory kill switch next to the light switch and not the ignition? should be simple to rig one on that circuit, looking at the wiring diagram, it is a simple 2 wire setup, conected it runs disconected it doesn't, called the run switch by polaris.

does the switch have to complete turn the machine off, or can you just tap into the fuel pump. its fuel injected that will kill it instantly. just an idea.

I tried that and all I got was sparks. I tried going off the service manual elec scamatic and tried every possable option but could not get it to work.. I finally tapped into the ETC wires and it works great.

I think you are best off working with that ETC. Pop the cover off, it takes like 6 or 8 pries with a screwdriver, and you can easily see how it works. When the circuit completes, the engine dies. Tapping into those wires somewhere should work nicely.
