Polaris Suspension Lock
I see that a few riders have posted pics of the sway bar connect, and I was wondering if anyone has either bought this mod, or have made their own.Polaris Suspension Lock
I was towing a trailer with some firewood over the weekend, and the load made 'er squat down pretty good, I have my shocks setup on the middle notch. I could have really used one of them...
If anybody has used one, has does it effect your normal trail riding? would it handle like a solid axle designed ATV?
Thanks in advance for the input,

I've looked at it online before, but I don't plow much so don't really have a need. I ride with my suspesion up a couple of notches from soft.
It will not ride like a solid axle design as this is limiting the suspension, whereas on a solid axle design you are running a monoshock and still have the travel you need. This bar limits the travel, therefore will make a much stiffer rearend and will feel like it also. I may work okay for riding quicker, as you are still getting the front suspension to work and the rear with ride rough and probably handle okay in the turns, just won't work for crap over bumps/dips, etc.
As far as towing with it, if you are getting alot of sag in your rear end, I mean alot of sag, then you have the tongue weight of the trailer too much. Look at your manual, it will tell you the max. tongue weight. I know when I tow around my trailer around, it sags pretty bad, because it has a tongue weight of 300 pounds and the trailer weighs 1850 pounds empty....
My manual states that there is a max vertical tongue weight of 150 pounds, with a towing capacity weight of 1500 pounds on level ground and 850 pounds up a 15 degree incline....
I was obviously going above specs, just as long as you don't do this too often, its not a problem. The rear suspension lock that polaris sells is not for towing great amounts past the max tongue weight, but will help to some degree...I just would be afraid of breaking something on the machine if you are going with way too much tongue weight....

For heavy trailers, something like Cabela's ATV Receiver may help. On '04's and older, it looks like it is much stronger than the regular hitch, as it bolts forward to the frame in another place. Other than bending the hitch, I don't see any problems with too much tongue weight, as long as you don't have the suspension bottomed out, as that would be rough work for the suspension.

I would say yes it would probably ride like a straight axle quad. the lock does limit the travel and movement of the IRS just as elkbow has stated. I looked at them online also and thought about it but I wouldn't like it cause usually I plow then drop the plow and go riding and it would be to much of a pain in the azz.

I think Polaris over emphasizes that it is useful for plowing... The weight when plowing is on the front, when moving, should not have much effect accept a except for suspension travel in the negative direction....
I am not sure of the tongue weight of my trailer, but i'll look into it......
