SP500HO vs KAWA Super650

Bill, please! Just be quiet! Some of these posts confirm my expectations, listed above.
We even have arguments about the relative performance between announced, but not here yet, forthcoming quads, and fantasy quads. Using the term advisedly, I say, "Fantastic!"
Don't get me wrong; I hope Polaris does release a 700 cc quad; in fact, I favor one with the Victory motorcycle engine. Raise the bar!

next think u know quads will be so expensive that they will have to start leasing them because no one can afford to buy them.
a "little birdy" told me that the sp700 will come out around sept 23 in reno NV, but will be awhile before u can buy one. Polaris is not worried a bit about the kawie 650 the have most all the bugs out of the sp700. but im sure yamaha and honda are worried about it.

I'm with you on the size overkill thing. The engine is big, but it is other features (presumed) that point me towards possibly considering the new Kawasaki. Especially if it has a swingaxle rear end. Mainly, it looks like it will have good ground clearance, has discs (no matter what kind the rear are, disc says it all), selectable 2wd, and finally some EBS from Kawasaki. I don't particuarly care one way or the other on single or dual lever brakes. Both are fine by me. Its the discs vs. drums that draw my attention. If the 4wd is like normal, and not the awd like Polaris, I will like that because of excellent braking with all four wheels linked. The differential is shady at this point because we know nothing about it, but the presumptions are good. I like the way it is sealed up from the elements as far a splash protection goes. The radiator looks far enough back to accept a winch from the picture. Engine sets low, and it looks stable as far as top heavy type stuff is concerned. Basically, the picture looks good to me. Also, steel racks. I really like that. Not too facinated by the 400's plastic. Has potential for me. Kawasaki has always been reliable.

WTF people? They are both pre production quads that will not be sold to the public till 2001 spring time 8 months from now. Since this is still fantasy land I'll put my money on the 725cc Polaris in line twin engine.
Andy, the Kawasaki has a belt I guess that rules out a 650 for you.
Damn I can't wait to get out town to go riding this weekend.
