You will want to drain the coolant out of the head to prevent it from spilling all over. You dont want to just plug the hole because you need to get it clean and dry to seal it with the teflon tape or sealant

A good way to drain the coolant from the head might be to hold the quad in the air with one hand with the probe facing downward, while unscrewing the probe with the other hand. Then let the coolant drain while you hold the quad in the air. By the way, I won the "World's Strongest Man" contest last year.

well, my next project just came in tonight via UPS, a set of Dick Cepek Eurotech Race series lights. They're pretty compact, 55 watt lights. You don't want to run without the machine running though, they will draw 4.6 amps. Not a big deal with the lights at that power, but with the other ones on also, will put some strain on the battery if not running....

So anyways, now where to mount. I got these things to put on the front end, not to shine straight ahead, but probably about 20 degrees off of straight ahead. You know how it is when you are riding fast at night and hammering down those dirt roads, you cannot see just ahead of where your lights are shining. This will eliminate that issue.

They come with all the parts, relay, wiring harness and switch. Their switch will probably get tossed and I'll opt for a lighted rocker switch....

I'll post some pics when I finish installing, have to figure out where I want to put them first....

Nice. I can't wait to see it. I'm light crazy. Anyone know about a company called surefire. I have a small lightweight handheld that will outshine a 6 cell maglight. I don't use maglight anymore. www.surefire.com

Jeff, I think I have 6 surefire lights. I carry 3 scorpians with me when I hunt. They take two of the 3v lithium batteries, I buy them for about a buck apiece, if left on they last about an hour. I also have two stingers....

I got to make a mount for the lights, was out looking at it tonight, then I swapped tires again, took off the stock, on went the 27" mudlites....its hard to choose sometimes when you have 3 sets of tires/wheels...lol....then I had to decide which of my new Crewline ATV lifts I was going to use....ha....

Can you think of a good place to mount the lights, you can look them up if you want to see what they look like, Dick Cepek Eurotech 2000E. They are cool looking oval type lights, pretty compact and bright as hell from what I have read. I'm going to angle them off to each side so when riding fast I can see just ahead in a turn, should light up the night.....

I want to keep the lights out of the way so that I don't rip them off on branches. I have a few idea's which is to weld up some guards that go around them with some steel bar....lightweight. I'll figure it out.....still need to find some aluminum oxide so I can blast and paint them when done...

Dave, where do you get the 3v lithium batteries for a buck each?
The cheapest I've found are the Surefire brand at Gander Mt. for $5 a package of 2.
Are you talking about the 15 pack from Surefire?

The Surefire is worth the money but now I've seen a very similar (in looks) lithium powered xenon Brinkman at Wal-Mart for about $15-20.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
I get mine from Botach Tactical. They switch back and forth between brands, surefire, Sanyo/Ge, others. Here is the link for the Sanyo/GE 20 pack for $20....they work great:

batteries

and for anyone looking for hi-cap Glock magazines, they are $15 each, this is where I get all of mine. If they are on the pull-down in the link, they are available. Even the Glock 18 magazines, 31 round 9mm factory mags are only $25 each:
