can somebody help with 350L?

i recently purchased a 1991 350L 4x4 for my wife. seem to be a pretty decent quad but sometimes its hard to shift in to gear, especially tring to go from high to low. i lowered the idle and this helped some but its still a little stiff. also any info on this quad would be nice, such as problem areas to watch for. thanks

The shifters on this model are not very positive when shifting into gear. Try these: Make sure you compress the red button all the way before you shift. Ingage the 4x4 button before shifting then when you shift the 4x4 light comes on when in gear, helps to know you have in gear all the way if you don't it will grind like mad when you give it thottle, also use the reverse overide button in reverse to see the 4x4 light come on to make sure it is engaged all the way. You will find that giving it a small amount of thottle after shifting to make the bike start moving before putting the hammer down will save on those gears.
The long heater hose that runs under the frame should be replaced and rerouted if that has not been done to that bike. The chains should be taken off and cleaned with kerosene and inspected for missing o-rings and check brake fluid condition.
good luck, I,ve had mine since new with very little problems but I do preventive maintenance on all my stuff.
