Had my '01 SP500 machine for about a year. When I greased the U-joints I used Penzoil 302 with molly. My grease gun is currently in PA (where the machine is normally kept) and the ATV is in NJ. The only grease I able to locate (without going nuts) is SYNTHETIC with molly. Now - I have heard different greases should not be mixed - what does everybody think? Think this is OK, or should I keep hunting for the same grease?

 

Shouldnt hurt anything. I myself use the Synthetic. Either Amsoil or Mobil 1, whichever I may happen to have at the time

 

My service guy at the polaris dealer tells me grease is grease!

 

I think the advice for not mixing greases, referrs to the lithium(soap), based greases, and petrolium based greases, being mixed.

 

I checked the tech sheets on the websites for the mfr's and for the thickener type one says "lithium 12-OH" and the synthetic says "lithium complex" - but who knows about whether that is compatible or not.

 

I use marine grease
