The air snorkel from the 800 efi will make a nice improvement on the sportsman 400 thru 700's. You can also modify the lid and snorkel base by enlarging the opening to increase airflow even more. On carburetor versions you may need to rejet. On my efi I needed to tweak the tps to richen it up a little. (tps adjustment is not for the faint hearted) The engine will breathe alot better and the mod does not increase the risk getting water in the air box.

I didn't think the snorkel was different between the 800 EFI and 2005 700 EFI, but I'm pretty sure the smaller one in the pic is what is on my 2005 700 EFI. Interesting...
I looked at the part manuals, sure enough, here are the numbers:
2005 700 EFI:
5434013 - Duct, Air Inlet
2005 800 EFI:
5435932 - Duct, Air Inlet, Large
Hmmm, maybe I'll have to get a whole new cover and snorkel....

I am currently modifing my air box on my 02 Sportsman 500 HO, I went to the hardware store and got a kitchen sink drain kit and went and got a 1.5" universal radaitor hose and hope to have pics soon showing it. I know it may be Jerry Rigged ,but it will be hid and really doesn't look bad. So far anyway.
The drain kit is on the air box and the hose is running up next to the stock snorkel, this should reduce water ingestion.. The seat is a little tight but I took a hammer and mashed the springs just a little in the rad hose to square it up. Don't know how the performace will be but at 1.5" on top of the stock box it should help a lot. On top of this just installed the Big Gun exhaust today as well as a dial a jet. Its late now and cold out but will try it in the morining.

There is some hidden horsepower in the tps but..... I'm not sure I want to try and explain it here. If you mess up you have to take the quad to the $dealer$ to get it adjusted to the original specifications.

I guessed that tps meant throttle position sensor...but didn't want to take a stab at it and sound stupid...lol
