MV - Military Vehicle
I was down at the Polaris/Kawasaki dealer today picking up my new 2005 KLR650 and got a close look at the MV. The suspension on that thing is wicked. I want to put the stiffer rated springs from the front on my 700 EFI, guess I'll have to look up the part number. The rear is incredible....I figured with the winch and extra gas tank back that that it would sag....heck no, you should see the spring thickness....I was practically jumping on it to get it to compress.....
Also....here is an idea for someone to try....I was crawling all over the MV....the rear gas tank is where the rear storage is on the 2005 machines....just a thought....I'm looking into the parts on the MV to add a rear gas tank and whatever else it uses to move the fuel....may need to put in my own pump....going to dig into the manual now and see what it shows....

I too was looking at the MV on friday ... nice setup on the nerf bars! ... as for the rear tank, IMO carring a couple of gas cans on the rear is just as easy ... twin gas tanks seams ... well IMO a little over kill. I thing i don't like is the racks ... WAY TO BIG ... nice that they are metal with all the d-rings ... but makes the machine too wide.

as far as the suspension, the setup is the same as other 2005 models, the springs are just different....
as far as the fuel tank, I do need extra fuel and I carry a flat pack gas can on my front rack almost everytime I ride....here in New Mexico, can go a long ways when wanting to go somewhere....so the fuel tank is just a though....would have to modify the rear rack to get at the cap....

The suspension better be beefier, have you checked the dry weigh specs? It’s 230 pounds heavier than a stock 700, DRY! And it doesn’t have EFI.
I find some things about it very attractive. What keeps me from owning one besides the extra weight are two things, no EFI and all those places for mud to collect. Cleaning one of those after a day of mudding would be a nightmare!

guys....add the 3000 pound winch on mine, front rack, gun racks, crap in my storage compartment and I'm up over 900 pounds I bet.....so, looking into the front springs, can get them for about $80 each....its funny, because the red springs that came with mine are only about $50 each....
anyways, the stock springs on the 700 and 800 EFI are rated at 75-111 pounds....the MV's frong springs are 125-170....
also, for the comment above on the Ranger, their front spring is a 140-190....
