adding a recoil on 700/800
We have an old 96 sp500 that had a recoil backup. Thank heavens too, I think we had to use it more then the electric start. We mainly use the atv in fall and winter for hunting and hauling wood and it would be too cold to start with electric. We are getting a new 700 or 800 and wondering if it is possible to add a recoil backup.

ya you guys are probably right. I was just so glad to have a recoil backup on our 500 because we would be screwed in so many cases when it didn't start. Our model 500 was also known to have a bad starter and it went right before our gun deer seasonWe keep it up north and we couldn't service it so we had pull start it through the whole season. I guess polaris had fiked that problem by now.

You would not be able to start an EFI without the battery ... even with pull start! The EFI computer needs power to inject fuel and run the timing ... I highly doubt a pull starter could turn it over fast enough to make enough power to power-up the EFI computer, inject fuel, and spark the plug. IMO and EFI would need at lease a jump to get the EFI up and running and then you may be able to pull start it.
