Question About Polaris Promotions
I went by a local polaris shop today and was trying to get some info on a promotion that took place in December of 2004, I was told that not every dealer offers the promotions. Is this true or not? My 05 700 efi was a gift for Christmas and I didn't get anything. It was purchased at Polaris of Knoxville and they wouldn't even throw in a free helmet. Today I found out that there was a promotion of $400 worth of lock-and-ride accessories if the atv was financed through Polaris and the shop in koxville would not validate the offer. Is this normal or did I get scammed?

Question About Polaris Promotions
I suppose it depends how much you feel like pushing it. I don't know how the dealers handle it, but I can see it from both sides of the story...
From the dealers' side: You (or someone) bought the quad already, and you bought it w/o any promotional material. They obviously don't think that people buy based upon these deals or they would pay more attention and put forth more effort to make sure that they're advertised and fulfilled for the customer.
From your side: If it's something that Polaris is taking care of, and the dealer simply has to validate it, then the dealer is just being lazy. I certainly don't know if this is the case or not, so I'm not suggesting anything since I don't know the dealer's side of the story. However, I would think that if it were that easy, then they'd do it for you. If they value you as a customer, then they should at least take the time to explain why they won't let you take advantage of the deal. I'm quite sure that it would change their tone if you have another dealer that you could take your business to next time. They make money from selling quads, but they probably make just as much or more from your continued business including your next quad purchase, you continuous maintenance, and accessory sales. I'm sure if you took your complaint to the manager or owner and threatened to take your future business elsewhere, they'd at least offer to explain the situation better .
Neutral Point of view: I'm a business owner (www.offroadtoystore.com if you're into 4x4 stuff), so I see it both ways. Part of running a business is to keep the customer happy. Especially if it's a freebe for the customer, then it's no money out of their pocketbook, and makes the look all the better for getting you free stuff. I have a hard time believing that they wouldn't honor it if they could. Perhaps on the other hand, they're able to keep money if they don't pass it on to you. Hard to say. I'd be interested in how they handle the situation. Sometimes it makes me angry that customers will bring something to my attention several months after the fact. Kinda feel like saying "I could have done something at the time, but it's too late now". In the end, I can't do that though. I have to make 10 people happy for them to tell a friend of our good service. I only have to **** one person off to have them tell 10 friends about it. Businesses don't like bad press. especially in the age of the internet. That stuff travels fast.
Good Luck.

Question About Polaris Promotions
There is a charge for the promotions to the dealer and that charge is added on the purchase price of the ATV, even though it is not itemized on the invoice. When I purchased my Sportsman I wanted a good price and didn't want the $400 in Polaris stuff. The dealer said he could reduce the price $266 because that was his charge from Polaris. When I was shopping around before my purchase I told each dealer I didn't want the $400 in stuff and each dealer immediately knocked off $266 dollars before the negotiations started. After talking to 11 dealers and each dealer said they were charged $266 for the $400 in free stuff, I was convinced that Polaris is indeed changing them $266 for each consumer taking advantage of the promotion. In your situation the purchaser of your bike may have chosen to have the price reduced instead of taking the $400 in Polaris stuff??????

Question About Polaris Promotions
When I bought the Magnum, they were offering a free winch. I didn't go to my normal dealer because I was keeeping it on my brothers land. They never mentioned any type of promotions, and I didn't check before I bought it. Polaris basically told me I was out of luck if the dealer wouldn't honor it.

I think farmboy answered everything right there. Maybe they could still let you pay the $266 and get the stuff, but I wouldn't blame them at this point if they couldn't. Now that we know this, I don't feel like the dealer would need to do anything to save face. Although if they wanted to win points, the would tell you to pay up the $266 and honor it for you.

Question About Polaris Promotions
Are the dealer charged him the $266 extra and still didn't give him is stuff.. When I bought my ATV I had my dealer give me a itemised total of how he got to the OTD price. He didn't mind at all. All though I dont like my dealer he is the cheapest. But he is bad about doing bait and switch.
